Harris Regional Hospital has announced the addition of Elizabeth Barker, a certified nurse midwife, to its medical staff. Barker brings almost ten years of experience in labor and delivery, with a focus on high-risk obstetrics and patient-centered care.

Barker started her career as a labor and delivery nurse, developing a strong interest in women’s health and maternal care. She later pursued midwifery to offer more comprehensive support for her patients. Her qualifications include board certifications in Inpatient Obstetrics (RNC-OB) and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).

“We are excited to welcome Elizabeth Barker to Harris Regional Hospital’s medical staff,” stated Ashley Hindman, CEO of Harris Regional Hospital. “Her expertise in labor and delivery, along with her dedication to patient-centered, compassionate care, will be a valuable resource for women and families in our community. We look forward to the impact she will make as she helps patients navigate pregnancy, birth, and beyond.”

Barker is originally from western North Carolina and continues to reside there due to its natural beauty. She enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking with her golden retriever and visiting national parks.

At Harris Women’s Care located at 70 The Village Overlook in Sylva, Barker will provide midwifery services including prenatal and postpartum care as well as gynecologic services. Appointments can be scheduled via HarrisMedicalGroup.com or by calling 844-414-DOCS.
