Harris Regional Hospital has announced the addition of Elizabeth Barker, a certified nurse midwife, to its medical team. With almost ten years of experience in labor and delivery, Barker specializes in high-risk obstetrics and provides trauma-informed support for women’s health.

Barker’s career began as a labor and delivery nurse, where she developed a strong interest in women’s health and maternal care. This led her to pursue midwifery, gaining extensive experience in deliveries, prenatal and postpartum care, and gynecologic services. She holds board certifications in Inpatient Obstetrics (RNC-OB) and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).

Ashley Hindman, CEO of Harris Regional Hospital, stated: “We are excited to welcome Elizabeth Barker to Harris Regional Hospital’s medical staff. Her expertise in labor and delivery, along with her dedication to patient-centered, compassionate care, will be a valuable resource for women and families in our community. We look forward to the impact she will make as she helps patients navigate pregnancy, birth, and beyond.”

A resident of western North Carolina for many years, Barker grew up around Asheville. She enjoys hiking with her golden retriever and traveling to national parks.

Barker will be practicing at Harris Women’s Care located at 70 The Village Overlook in Sylva. To schedule an appointment or learn more about their services, individuals can visit HarrisMedicalGroup.com or call 844-414-DOCS.
