In our continuous effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Nantahala News have sent a request under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., to the Cherokee County Election Department. The request was made for records of all candidates running in the upcoming spring election.

The specific details requested include each candidate’s first, middle, and last names, the office they are running for, jurisdiction of the office, and their party affiliation. We also asked for all contact information for each candidate including their address, phone number, and email address.
