As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Nantahala News have formally requested records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. ยง132-1.

Our request specifically pertains to the pre-election test reports for election voting machines in a PDF format. We have asked for the following fields to be included in these reports: test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status (whether it passed or failed).

As a media organization, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We will continue to keep our readers updated on this matter as more information becomes available.
