Harris Regional Hospital has announced a Lunch & Learn event focusing on stroke awareness and prevention. The session will be held on Tuesday, May 27th, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Jackson County Department of Aging in Sylva, North Carolina. EMS Supervisor and Training Officer Kyle Dowling will lead the event.
The session aims to educate attendees about stroke symptoms, risk factors, and the importance of immediate action in saving lives. It will also cover Harris Regional Hospital’s designation as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital, which ensures rapid assessment and treatment for stroke patients.
Rebecca Artman, senior nursing officer for Harris Regional Hospital, emphasized the importance of timely intervention. “Stroke awareness is vital because every second counts when it comes to treatment,” she said. “We are committed to equipping our community with the knowledge and resources to recognize the signs of stroke early.”
The hospital is partnering with the Jackson County Department of Aging for this event, highlighting their shared commitment to serving aging adults in the community. The event is free and open to the public, with lunch provided at no cost. Attendees are encouraged to participate actively by bringing questions.
