Harris Regional Hospital has been recognized as a high-performing hospital for stroke care in the 2025–2026 Best Hospitals edition by U.S. News & World Report. This is the highest level of recognition available in the publication’s Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings.
U.S. News evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions this year. The high-performing rating is based on objective data such as risk-adjusted outcomes, patient experience, nurse staffing, and use of advanced technologies.
Ashley Hindman, CEO of Harris Regional Hospital, stated, “This national recognition reinforces the exceptional level of stroke care our team provides every single day. It’s a powerful testament to the skill, coordination, and dedication of our physicians, nurses, emergency responders, and support staff. Together, we’re delivering life-saving care when every second counts, and doing it right here in the community we proudly serve.”
The hospital also holds an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital designation from The Joint Commission and the American Stroke Association. This certification follows an onsite review that assesses clinical care standards, process improvement efforts, and stroke treatment protocols. The designation highlights Harris Regional Hospital’s commitment to providing rapid evaluation and timely intervention for stroke patients in a rural setting.
The hospital emphasizes that recognizing symptoms such as sudden numbness or weakness (especially on one side), confusion, trouble speaking or understanding speech, vision problems, loss of balance, or severe headache is crucial. Immediate medical attention should be sought if these signs appear.
