Harris Regional Hospital, alongside Four Seasons, The Care You Trust, will host a Lunch and Learn event focusing on advance directives. This event is scheduled for Thursday, April 17th, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Easton Board Room at Harris Regional Hospital. The session, offered at no charge to participants, includes a complimentary lunch.

The gathering aims to provide insights into advance directives, which are legal tools for specifying healthcare preferences when individuals can’t communicate their wishes. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Maureen Williams, MEd, BSN, RN, CCM, CDCP, a representative from Four Seasons, who will offer guidance on completing and submitting these documents.

Ashley Hindman, CEO of Harris Regional and Swain Community Hospitals, emphasized the significance of the event, saying, “Talking about end-of-life care can be difficult, but making your wishes known is one of the most important gifts you can give your loved ones. This event is about empowerment—helping people take control of their future medical decisions.”

Advance directives can reassure individuals that their healthcare wishes will be respected and can relieve family stress during critical moments. The event encourages both those facing serious health challenges and those planning ahead to begin these crucial discussions.
