Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital have successfully maintained their accreditation through The Joint Commission. This achievement includes all affiliated outpatient locations, as the institutions demonstrated continuous compliance with performance standards, earning The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Hospital Accreditation.
The hospitals underwent an unannounced on-site review earlier this year. A team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated the hospitals’ compliance with standards in key areas such as emergency management, infection prevention, leadership, and patient rights. This process occurs every three years and ensures that healthcare organizations meet specific criteria.
Ashley Hindman, CEO of Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital, commented on the reaccreditation: “This reaccreditation affirms the dedication of our team members at Harris, Swain, and all of our outpatient locations. From frontline staff to clinical leadership, everyone plays a vital role in meeting the highest standards in patient safety and quality.”
The Joint Commission’s guidelines are informed by health care professionals and research to help hospitals elevate patient safety and care quality. During reviews, surveyors perform thorough evaluations that include staff interviews and observations.
Both hospitals engage in internal audits and training to maintain high standards across all areas of care. These efforts are part of a commitment to excellence reflected during each survey opportunity.
