Haywood Regional Medical Center will host a free Lunch & Learn event focusing on diabetes and nutrition. The session is scheduled for Monday, July 21, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Haywood Regional Health and Fitness Center.
The event will be led by Kathryn Darsillo, RD, LDN, an outpatient nutritionist specializing in chronic conditions such as diabetes and prediabetes. During the session, Darsillo will explain the role of nutrition in managing blood sugar levels and overall wellness. Topics include meal planning, understanding food labels, and sustainable dietary changes.
This session targets individuals living with diabetes or those newly diagnosed. Caregivers or anyone interested in improving their nutrition for better health outcomes are also welcome. The aim is to provide practical information that can be immediately applied.
“We’re proud to offer events like this to give our community access to practical tools and expert support,” said Sue Shugart, CEO of Haywood Regional Medical Center. “Diabetes is a condition that affects many families in our region, and knowledge is one of the best resources we can offer. Kathryn’s ability to translate clinical information into everyday guidance makes a real difference in the lives of her patients.”
The Lunch & Learn includes a Q&A session for participants to engage with Darsillo directly. Lunch will be provided, and registration is encouraged.
