Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital held a luncheon this week to recognize 17 employees for reaching significant service milestones. The event is part of the hospitals’ quarterly awards program, which acknowledges staff members for their years of dedication.

Employees honored ranged from clinical providers to support staff, with each individual recognized for their contribution to patient care and hospital operations. The honorees represented various departments and roles, including nursing, emergency medical services, information technology, plant operations, security, imaging services, and health information management.

The following staff were acknowledged:

For five years of service: Julie Jenkins (Surgical Services), Kari Putnam (Labor & Delivery), Dawn Jones (Medical-Surgical Unit), and Chelsea Leatherwood (Harris Pain Clinic).

For ten years: Anthony Soop (Harris EMS), Marisa Smith (IT Services Director), Karen Wyatt (Health Information Services), Jamie McHan (Emergency Services), and Scott Danks (Harris Pain Clinic).

For fifteen years: Kurt Wamsley (Harris EMS), Raymond Baldwin (Plant Operations), and Doug Buchanan (Security).

For twenty years: Aleta McCleskey (Emergency Services) and Shannon Parker (Imaging Services).

For twenty-five years: Donna Barnett (Ambulatory Surgical Unit) and Kim Marshall (Intensive Care Unit).

For thirty years: Stephanie Gualemi (Health Information Management).

During the luncheon, department leaders offered remarks about the impact these employees have had during their tenure. Each recognized team member received a gift in appreciation of their service.

“Acknowledging employees for service milestones is one of the many ways the hospitals foster a culture of gratitude and support. The enduring commitment of these team members reflects the strength of the workforce and its vital role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care. Their dedication aligns with the hospitals’ mission of making communities healthier and the vision of being the hospitals of choice: where patients choose to come for care, providers want to practice, and employees want to work.”
