Harris Regional Hospital has announced that 19 employees working in its physician clinics have earned certification as Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs). The achievement comes after staff completed a career development program delivered onsite through a partnership with WNC Edutech, an education provider based in North Carolina.
WNC Edutech specializes in hands-on training and national certification preparation for medical and IT fields. For this initiative, the organization brought its Clinical Medical Assistant program directly to Harris Regional Hospital’s clinic locations. This approach allowed staff members to continue their patient care duties while completing the training necessary for certification. All participants successfully became certified without needing to leave the region, which hospital officials say helps strengthen access to skilled clinical care locally.
“We’re proud to support our team members in advancing their careers and growing within our organization,” said Ashley Hindman, CEO of Harris Regional Hospital. “Their achievement benefits not only their own professional journey, but also the strong, consistent care we provide across all our clinics. We appreciate WNC Edutech for helping make this opportunity a reality.”
The newly certified medical assistants represent several of Harris Regional Hospital’s specialty practices: Harris Pulmonary and Sleep Associates (Cicily Savannah Hill, Ashlynn Luker Boone, Bailey Bumgarner, Aneisha Cockerham); Harris Surgical Associates (Hope Melton); Harris Urology (Ashley Riley, Tammy Brooks, Taylor Broom); Harris Pediatric Care (Emily Coward, Amber Higdon, Misty Ruff); Harris Medical Associates (Emily Norman, Mary “Becky” Tuck); Harris Family Care-Franklin (Amber Gibbs, Brandy Dills); Harris Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine (Yash Patel, Patty Martin, Colette Gamble); and Harris Women’s Care (Megan Kelly).
Hospital leadership describes its work environment as positive and supportive of employee growth. Those interested in joining the team can find more information about current openings at MyHarrisRegional.com/careers.
