Macon County first-responders started a nightly reading challenge for their peers and county residents, a state representative said via Facebook.
Rep. Kevin Corbin encouraged residents in a Facebook post to participate in the First Responders Reading Challenge.
"First responders in Macon County started the #firstrespondersreadingchallenge last Thursday [March 26] to give kids something to look forward to while safe at home during the quarantine. Law enforcement, emergency personnel and others are getting on board each night!," Corbin posted to Facebook. "Check out First Responder Reading Challenge for nightly videos from our local heroes!"
The First Responders Reading Challenge will have someone who works on the front lines reading a children's book on Facebook every night as a way to spread kindness to children stuck at home, the challenge Facebook page said. Each night, whoever is reading the story will nominate another first-responder to read a children's book the following night.
The challenge started on March 26 and has expanded throughout multiple counties.
