Jackson County Parks and Recreation issued the following announcement on Aug. 20.
There is still time to register for the Greening Up the Mountains 5k run and walk! The race starts and finishes at Mark Watson Park in Sylva, NC. Race day registration starts at 8am and the race starts at 9am. Strollers and dogs are welcome, but it is an open course. We will have all major intersections staffed to ensure everyone stays safe. We will have registration spread out, so social distancing will not be a problem. We will also have disposable chips that are built into the bibs. We still have a limited number of shirts available, so register ASAP!
