Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sep 18.
ULI Panels bring together the best and brightest professional planners, market analysts, economists, architects, natural and built environmental specialists, land developers, public officials and more to offer practical solutions and objective growth management advice not available from any other source.
The panel will focus on specific issues of local concern, review advance briefing materials, and travel to Cashiers to tour and confidentially interview 100+ diverse stakeholders. It will identify market pressures affecting the Cashiers community to help us better understand land economics. It will develop recommendations in the context of the current market growth trajectory and provide an actionable written report. Glenn Ubertino and Daniel Fletcher, both members of the Cashiers Area Chamber Board of Directors and on the Cashiers Area Community Planning Council, will help lead this process with Council colleagues and significant public input. The Chamber will serve as Sponsor, responsible as the contracted agency for the administration and logistics.
FUNDING: The cost to conduct an Advisory Services Panel is $135,000 and with a timely community commitment, it could be scheduled in November. More than $95,000 has been raised from both organizations and individuals and we need your support and involvement, too. PLEASE DONATE TO THIS IMPORTANT EFFORT! Tax-deductible contributions should be made payable to the Cashiers Area Legacy Fund*, a 501(c)3 nonprofit created by the Cashiers Area Chamber of Commerce to support public works for the public good (mail to PO Box 238, Cashiers, NC 28717 or deliver to the Chamber).
IMPACT: This inclusive, unbiased, expert process will expand our collective knowledge about critical growth issues facing us TODAY. The more informed our community is about relevant facts and industry best practices -- related to preservation of character, density, local needs and services, transportation, environmental conservation, infrastructure and more -- the better public policy decisions we can make to support a sustainable and prosperous Cashiers and surrounding communities IN THE FUTURE.
