Stephen Plemmons appointed VP for operations at three Duke LifePoint hospitals

Stephen Plemmons has been appointed as the market vice president of operations for Harris Regional Hospital, Haywood Regional Medical Center, and Swain Community Hospital. These hospitals are part of Duke LifePoint and serve communities west of Asheville.

Plemmons brings extensive experience in healthcare leadership within western North Carolina. Previously, he served as the senior nursing officer for Harris Regional and Swain Community Hospitals, managing inpatient, outpatient, emergency nursing services, and emergency medical services. His earlier roles included senior director of special care and emergency services and administrator at Swain Community Hospital.

Chris Brown, RN, CEO of HRMC and market president for the three hospitals stated, "Stephen’s exceptional leadership and personal knowledge of our region make him uniquely qualified to understand the needs of our communities and further elevate our hospitals’ performance."

A native of Haywood County, Plemmons holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Western Carolina University. He began his career at Haywood Regional Medical Center's emergency department before moving into leadership positions.

In his new role, Plemmons will focus on operational strategies to enhance service delivery across the facilities. This appointment is part of an ongoing effort to ensure residents have access to essential healthcare services.
