Harris Regional Hospital has announced the addition of Dr. Stefanie Hatfield, a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, to its medical staff. Dr. Hatfield brings over 13 years of experience in providing care in both private practice and hospital settings.

Dr. Hatfield completed her medical degree at Rush University Medical College in Chicago and her residency at St. Luke’s and Roosevelt Hospitals, now known as Mount Sinai West, in New York City. Her expertise includes high-risk obstetrics, minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, infertility counseling, and cervical disease management.

Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Hatfield served with AmeriCorps in Chicago for two years, focusing on children in immigrant communities. This experience motivated her to enter healthcare with an emphasis on women's health.

Ashley Hindman, CEO of Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital stated: “We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Hatfield to Harris Regional Hospital’s medical staff.” Hindman added that Dr. Hatfield's "extensive experience" and "patient-first approach" will benefit the community greatly.

Dr. Hatfield recently moved to western North Carolina from Georgia to be closer to family after spending her childhood in Virginia.

In addition to her professional commitments, Dr. Hatfield enjoys yoga, biking, hiking, reading, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, and learning piano.

Dr. Hatfield will be practicing at Harris Women’s Care located at 70 The Village Overlook in Sylva. Appointments can be scheduled through HarrisMedicalGroup.com or by calling 844-414-DOCS.
