Swain County Schools issued the following announcement on Jan. 10.

Due to the forecast for inclement weather in Swain County and to avoid the potential of having to dismiss in the middle of our End of Course Exams, Swain County Schools will be closed for students on Friday, January 13th and it will be an Optional Teacher Workday for staff. 

In addition, Swain County Schools will be closed on Monday, January 16th in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr Holiday.
