Town of Franklin Police Department issued the following announcement on Jan. 10.

Today, January 13, 2023, Macon County, NC Sheriff’s Office Deputy Matt Breedlove, attempted to stop a vehicle in town on Belden Circle near Patton Road.  The suspect began to flee from the Deputy, which initiated a pursuit into the Cartoogechaye Community.

The pursuit began to travel back toward town on the Old Murphy Road.  Franklin Police Department Sergeant Matt Bingham, deployed Spike-Strips (tire deflation device) just before an elementary school to attempt to end the pursuit before entering the school zone, and entering the more traffic congested areas of town.  The Spike-Strip deployment was successful, deflating all four tires on the suspect vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was disabled a short distance later.  The suspects then fled from the vehicle on foot.  Our own Sheriff, Brent Holbrooks, and Chief Deputy Adam Wishon were there to pursue the suspects on foot, immediately taking them both into custody.

Great team work by all agencies involved.

The suspects arrested were:

Jarret Dane Holland age 37

Mimi Raa Ciarrocchi age 31
