Since a new Visit NC Farms app came online in July 2020, Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce has been working on getting agritourism businesses and organizations in Cherokee, Clay and Graham counties to join the chamber and increase the number of app downloads.
The chamber is recruiting Graham County agritourism businesses, the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce said in a statement on its website.
"We knew full well there is a great deal of agritourism in Graham County we just needed to put in the footwork," the chamber said in the press release. "Our goal was to encourage agritourism businesses in Graham County to join us and to increase downloads for the app."
Chamber representatives visited Yellow Branch Pottery & Cheese Farm in Robbinsville, North Carolina, which applied to the app. The farm has been operating for 31 years and produces award-winning Yellow Branch Pepper Cheese, made with their jalapeno peppers.
Graham County Library, the site of the weekly Farmer's Market, was also visited to get the organization to join the app. The chamber hopes the library will encourage those who participate in the farmer's market to join the app.
