Of the 2,120 people living in Cherokee in 2020, 49.2 percent (1,043) were women and 50.8 percent (1,077) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the Nantahala News.

Females 18 and over outnumbered males in the same age group by 51. In the 65 and over age range, there were 266 females and 250 males.
