In the 2022-23 school year, Math scores among the county district rose to 16.4%, an increase of 4.2% from the previous school year when 12.2% of students were considered ready for post-secondary education.
For comparison, North Carolina saw 23.5% of its students meeting or exceeding the ACT benchmarks for Math during this year.
Beyond Math, 44.7% of Cherokee County 11th-graders met English college readiness benchmarks in the 2022-23 school year. Additionally, the state's performance is lagging behind the national average, which currently stands at 21%.
