Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital have launched the Cardiac and Stroke Champion Program to acknowledge exceptional staff achievements in cardiac and stroke patient care. The hospitals, noted for their high standards in handling cardiac-related symptoms, select champions each month based on patient data. These honorees are recognized for outstanding performance in delivering efficient and life-saving care.

Kevin Fischer, PA-C, Ted Moore, RN, Christopher Jenkins, RT, Levi Weigland from the lab, lab member Eric Acheff, CNA Beth Gentry, and MD Brad McAbee have been recognized as March's Cardiac Champions. Their collaboration and rapid response made a significant difference in a cardiac arrest case.

Stroke Champions are named similarly, chosen by Harris Regional Hospital’s Stroke Committee for exemplary work in stroke care. The March Stroke Champions include RN Amanda McNabb, RN Kaylee Campbell, radiologist Jason Coggins, lab member Grace Myers, CNA Beth Gentry, Dr. Reed, radiologist Michael Winchester, RN and House Supervisor Zeb Gentry, RN Virginia Wolff, and MD Katherine Whitfield.

Harris Regional Hospital is a certified Acute Stroke Ready Hospital. The initiative emphasizes prompt, coordinated care, fulfilling benchmarks such as timely diagnostics and medication administration.
