Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital have announced the appointment of Rebekah Artman as the new senior nursing officer. Artman will oversee nursing operations at both facilities, succeeding Stephen Plemmons, who has transitioned to market vice president of operations for Harris, Haywood, and Swain hospitals.
Artman's career began in 2007 as a certified nursing assistant at Harris Regional Hospital while she was attending nursing school. Her experience includes serving as assistant chief nursing officer for Frye Regional Medical Center in North Carolina and Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital in Nevada. Both hospitals are part of Lifepoint Health.
Ashley Hindman, CEO of Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital, expressed enthusiasm about Artman's return: "We are thrilled to welcome Rebekah back to Harris and Swain in this leadership role. Her deep connection to our community, combined with her extensive leadership experience and dedication to patient-centered care, makes her an incredible asset to our hospitals.”
Artman earned her registered nursing license in 2009 and worked as an ICU nurse before moving into leadership roles focused on nursing retention, patient safety, and evidence-based care at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She participated in Lifepoint Health’s ACNO program where she collaborated with chief nursing officers across multiple hospitals.
Stephen Plemmons commented on Artman's reputation: "Rebekah’s reputation as a strong leader and advocate for both patients and staff is well known. Her dedication to nursing excellence and ability to build collaborative, high-performing teams will ensure our nursing teams will continue to thrive."
Originally from Robbinsville, North Carolina, Artman is eager to return to the region. She remains committed to supporting nurses and championing patient care.
