Stephen Plemmons has been appointed as the market vice president of operations for Harris Regional Hospital, Haywood Regional Medical Center, and Swain Community Hospital. These hospitals are part of the Duke LifePoint network serving communities west of Asheville.

Plemmons brings extensive experience in healthcare leadership within western North Carolina. Previously, he served as the senior nursing officer for Harris Regional and Swain Community Hospitals, where he managed inpatient, outpatient, and emergency nursing services. He also held roles such as senior director of special care and emergency services and administrator at Swain Community Hospital. In these positions, Plemmons focused on improving operational efficiency, patient safety, and strategic fiscal management.

A native of Haywood County, Plemmons holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Western Carolina University. His career began in the emergency department at Haywood Regional Medical Center before moving into leadership roles.

In his new position, Plemmons will focus on operational strategies to enhance service delivery across the facilities. This move aligns with ongoing efforts by the hospitals to ensure that residents west of Asheville have access to essential healthcare services.
